These requirements are effective January 21, 2012
- Parent(s) of the child to be baptized must be registered and practicing members of the parish (evidenced by regular use of parishioner offering envelopes) for at least 3 months.
- If they are not parishioners of Holy Rosary and have a valid reason why they wish to have their child baptized at Holy Rosary (family ties, Polish heritage etc.), they must secure a letter from the pastor of the parish they belong to that verifies their active practice of the faith and his permission to allow the baptism at Holy Rosary Parish.
- If they do not belong to any parish, they should be encouraged to register at one, based the geographical area of where they live.
- If requirements are met, they may schedule an appointment by phone with the parish priest. If this is their first child to be baptized, they will need to attend a preparation session (a video viewing and discussion of the Sacrament of Baptism).
- The Sacrament of Baptism can be celebrated during or outside of Sunday or Saturday Mass at a time that is convenient to the priest and family.
- At least one of the Godparent sponsors must be an active, practicing Catholic, evidenced by a letter from his or her parish priest. It is allowable for one Godparent to be a baptized Christian of another denomination if no other Catholic relative or friend is available.
